WMRA is a Public Radio formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Harrisonburg, Virginia. Repeater stations serve Charlottesville, Lexington, Winchester and Farmville, Virginia. WMRA is owned and operated by James Madison University. The signal area reaches around a quarter of the state, including most of the heavily-truck-traveled Interstate 81 Virginia corridor. WMRA was the first National Public Radio affiliate to put a repeater in the Charlottesville area, where now many listener-supported stations compete.
The network broadcasts primarily NPR news and talk programming, with classical music weekday evenings, and folk and blues on the weekends, along with programs such as Car Talk and A Prairie Home Companion. Original programs produced by WMRA include Virginia Insight, The Spark, Acoustic Cafe, and Blues Valley; among the shows’ guests have been Julian Bond, Alex Chadwick, Lawrence Wright, Robin and Linda Williams, Tim Kaine, Ken Cuccinelli, David Toscano, George Allen, Thomas Blatt, Bob McDonnell, David Swanson, and Edward L. Ayers. WMRA has hosted public events with appearances by Ira Glass, Baxter Black, Joshua Bell, LAGQ, Liane Hansen, and Carl Kasell –the latter two at the American Shakespeare Center. WMRA staff alumni were instrumental in establishing the Classical 24 satellite network which provides daytime and overnight classical music to scores of radio stations nationwide

We will have a Fly Fishing class to show you how to cast a fly rod and tie on your liter, tippet and fly. We will also have Andrew White the builder of one of Larry’s guitars come in and show you what it takes to construct an instrument with parts of instruments in different stages. All meals from Thursday evening through Sunday breakfast are included in this very special weekend. Also guitar, mandolin, banjo and bass guitar instruction will be the highlight. Evening picking sessions on Thursday, Friday will build up to a very special concert Saturday evening to cap things off.
