Monte Carlo Evening

Don’t gamble!

Save the date for Lime Kiln’s enhanced Monte Carlo Evening

On Saturday February 4, 2012, Hall of Valor at VMI, Theater at Lime Kiln will host their “Monte Carlo Evening” annual gala fundraiser. The fundraiser has moved the short distance from Moody Hall to the Hall of Valor, so as to facilitate an expanded evening’s entertainment according to Tony Russell, the theater’s Executive Director.

Russell commented, “We greatly value our relationship with VMI. Moody Hall has been a great venue for us across the years and we are extremely grateful to Carole Green and her staff for being true friends of Lime Kiln. We are also very grateful to VMI for allowing us to hold our Monte Carlo Evening in their most prestigious Hall of Valor. It is a truly magnificent space and will accommodate beautifully, our expanded evening’s entertainment.”

The expanded evening’s entertainment will include dinner followed by a cabaret performance by Chaise Lounge, one of Washington DC’s top jazz bands who will be playing sparkling arrangements of standards and original tunes, very much in keeping with the Monte Carlo theme.

According to Russell, “When Chaise Lounge played at Lime Kiln in June this year their performance really ‘popped the cork’ so to speak. Folks were up spontaneously dancing, their music really brought to mind scenes from some of Sinatra’s ‘rat pack’ movies, a perfect addition to our Monte Carlo Evening.”

He continued, “Chaise Lounge is not a tribute or cover band, their principals, Charlie Barnett and Marilyn Older write excellent songs. Their material is smart, funny, tough, and not afraid of emotions. In a musically just world—that is to say, in 1962—people like Dean Martin, Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra would have recorded these tunes.”

The gala fundraiser will as always feature Monte Carlo style gaming along with both a silent and live auction. Click here to see a list of the auction items. All proceeds will benefit Theater at Lime Kiln a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization.
