Auction Items

Theater at Lime Kiln’s 2012 Monte Carlo Evening will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the magnificent Hall of Valor at VMI.

The evening’s activities include:

  • A Cocktail and Hors d’oeuvre Reception
  • A Silent Auction, featuring wonderful and unique items, from inexpensive delights to breathtaking jewelry and original art. Items will include luxury “night-on-the-town” and travel packages … the works of talented artisans and crafters … and gifts for kids and kids-at-heart.
  • Dinner followed by a Live Auction featuring some truly extraordinary and unique packages
  • Gaming & Cabaret featuring the smooth jazz of Chaise Lounge.

The cocktail reception and silent auction begin at 6:00 p.m. and close at 7:20pm. The dinner and live auction begin at 7:30 p.m. The evening is black tie optional.

Theater at Lime Kiln’s 2012 Monte Carlo Evening auctions include a wide array of items generously donated by Lime Kiln supporters from around the region. THANK YOU to the individuals and businesses who provided these items!

1. Shakespeare weekend in Staunton
Package includes a Saturday evening performance at the American Shakespeare Center, dinner at the Mockingbird  one night’s accommodation at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel and either a Sunday afternoon matinee or a Sunday Evening performance at the renowned Blackfriars. 

2. Fine Art by Chris Bruno -LIVE AUCTION - Available for online bid.
Approaching 302 Chris wanted to create an abstract doorway. “The number could be an address or perhaps how many people have come thru this door. I tried to leave who or what came through said door up to the viewer.”

3. Far from the Madding Crowd – LIVE AUCTION - Available for online bid.
A General’s Club subscription (40 tickets) for Theater at Lime Kiln’s 2012 season, with a private box in both the Kiln and the Bowl that seats 4. The private box accommodation includes 2 double Adirondack bench sets with tables. Donated by Theater at Lime Kiln.

4. The Russians Are Coming – LIVE AUCTION - Available for online bid.
The Bolshoi Ballet Company presents Coppelia at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on June 2. Package includes two orchestra seat tickets  and a two night stay at the Georgetown Suites Hotel, (a one bedroom suite in the heart of historic and fashionable Georgetown within walking distance to the Kennedy Center).

5. The Americans Are Already Here – LIVE AUCTION - Available for online bid.
The New York City Ballet performs the All American Program at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on April 7, two orchestra seat tickets and a two night stay at the Rosslyn Marriott Courtyard.

6. The French Are Coming – LIVE AUCTION - Available for online bid.
The Paris Opera Ballet performs Giselle at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on July 7, two orchestra seat tickets.  Stay at the Georgetown Suites Hotel in a one bedroom suite, July 6 and 7, in the heart of historic and fashionable Georgetown within walking distance to the Kennedy Center.

7. A Russian Feast at the Jefferson Center
The Roanoke Symphony is presenting “A Russian Feast” as part of the Jefferson Center Masterworks Series for 2012.  Dining at Table 50, located in an historic 1900′s building on Market Square in Roanoke, overnight accommodation at the MainStay Suites.

Lime Kiln’s 6th Annual Wine Stroll:   This most popular event takes eight guests on a walk to four lovely homes in historic Lexington.  At each of these houses, guests are treated to successive gourmet dinner courses paired with fine wines.

A large sculpture of wood and stone reflecting abstract nature, created by John Mason.  The wood is the trunk of a Virginia hardwood tree, bored out in the center where a stone sculpture is placed.  A wondrous and imposing piece that can be interior or exterior displayed, depending on winner’s preference.  Such is the adaptability of the sculpture.

42. Photographic Study by David Goodrich
The subject of this photograph is the wheat fields found in the famous rolling hills of southeast Washington State. The color is not enhanced. It was taken on a foggy day with no shadows and the colors are true. The safflower shows in hues of yellow, the spring wheat offers up greens and the just harvested winter wheat is shown in shades of brown.

43.The Past at Kerrs Creek by Dee Todd
This beautiful oil painting captures on canvas a piece of history as well as the beauty of this area of Virginia. The scene is a very old historical home that can be found today sitting on Still House Road in Rockbridge County.

 48. Santa – Handmade and one of a Kind
Each Santa sculpture is unique, dated and signed by the artist, Darin Docekal. This sculpture is made of wood, batting and cloth. The body is assembled and the face hand-carved. Cotswold wool is used for the beard and the clothing is sewn and trimmed in fur.

49. Antique Treasures - LIVE AUCTION - Available for online bid.
A matching pair of lady’s and gentleman’s Victorian arm chairs, circa 1850 – 1860, hand carved solid walnut with original finish. Both chairs are structurally sound and suitable for sitting. The ornately carved backs are in excellent condition. Both  have finger grooving on the wood frame and were recently reupholstered.

54. Batik on Eggshells – Pysanky, a Stunning display for Your Home
Artist Jane Auciello has taken a centuries old traditional craft and given it a modern twist! The process of creating this beautifully decorated egg is multi-step. A Rhea eggshell was used for this particular Pysanky egg and required approximately 30 hours to complete.

55. Add some Color to your Life with Anna Bangley
Join Anna Bangley, local Lexington artist, for two hours of instruction in watercolor painting. Guided by Anna, you will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of washes and techniques used in transparent watercolor painting.
